My Friday Favourites

I got to head to the cult of fitness that is F45 today. It's official, I'm now a member and will be frequenting my local Functional 45 in pursuit of toned thighs and roundness of booty.

Actually, my foray into functional training has come more from a need to increase my overall fitness levels. Post-Spartan, I realised I needed to up my game. Last year's True Grit was a walk in the park, but I hadn't been focusing much on cardio and strength training this year. After Spartan, I knew this needed to change. I can't be the only one that gets fixated on a particular sport or fitness and forgets to do anything else, can I?!

I usually attend a couple of gyms and have access to a lot of my own equipment too. But, I needed that extra oomph, because, if I'm honest, as much as I am motivated when it comes to sport, I do find myself slacking off and letting e-mails and IG stuff get in the way. At F45, that's nigh on impossible, because you're swiftly moving through the rounds. Plus, you have a couple of trainers making sure that you're working your ass off.

F45 focuses on functional training (hence the name, duh!). It's high intensity interval training, which is combined with resistance training and some calisthenics, and the station workouts change up after every couple of minutes, meaning you're never bored.

I left feeling like I had completed a good workout. My muscles felt tighter and I felt less of a need to do any additional exercise. Often having completed a gym session, I'll still feel like going for a run or doing additional sport, but at F45, it's not necessary. You've packed in a good workout in just 45 minutes. Easy!

I'm working out at F45 Chippendale, but you can find a studio here: https://f45training.com.au/

Tropical Brazil AU

Every morning, my routine includes a protein mix. I add my favourite fruit to a protein and oat drink and relax before the day ahead. It's filling, nutritious and tasty.

Blueberries were my staple addition until Tropical Brazil came along. With their high potency antioxidant-rich acai, I don't think I can turn back. Packed with vitamins (their Acerola has 40 times more vitamin C than oranges), acai and acerola give me the boost that I need.

So what is this acai?

Acai, pronounced ah-sah-ee, is a nutrient-dense superfood from Brazil. It is loaded with antioxidants, rich in vitamins, can lower cholesterol, and may protect against cancer. Studies have also found that acai can help boost brain functioning.

I find acai gives me much more energy. Also, especially when added to shakes, less is more. It's so potent that a little goes a long way. I even had a portion pre-Spartan as I knew just how good it is.

Antioxidant-rich foods such as acai protect our bodies from environmental stressors and free radicals. This, in essence, can potentially protect us from a whole host of diseases. We're also increasing our immune system and immune response to outside invaders when we eat superfoods such as acai.

Tropical Brazil Australia have a range of products, including large wholesale packs for businesses, to smaller tubs that you can pack for on the run.

Tri Nature

I have never wanted to clean as much as I have when my Tri-Nature products arrived. I've needed to find some cleaning products that are more environmentally-friendly and less harmful to the skin. I find my hands dry out so quickly from the harmful chemicals in many cleaning products, so having products that are derived from nature, are plant-based, and good for your health, is great.

I know that many people are thinking about the safety of their household products. Rife with chemicals, many can cause disruptions to our endocrine system. Not only that, but products that are not eco-friendly pollute and damage our environment.

I know that friends of mine that have children will often think about the health implications of spraying high street cleaning products. They worry about any potential carcinogenic effects, especially for young children. It plays on my mind too. We never really know what we're breathing in when we allow ourselves to use harsh chemicals. With Tri Nature, this is different. They're free from phosphates, nitrates and other harmful ingredients, yet they still do a great job of getting rid of grime.

I particularly like how Tri Nature started as a brand. In fact, they've been around for decades, founded originally by Brian and Bob, two friends that worked together in the chemical industry. They were aware of the toxicity of cleaning products and wanted to find something better; healthier and nicer to the environment. That's a brand that we can trust.
