My Friday Favourites

I've just recently completed a health coaching/nutritional consulting course and I am raring to go with my food and mood column. I love to see people become the best versions of themselves and one of the ways to do this is to look at nutrition.

Not only that, but nutrition is not just limited to the food we eat. We can apply good nutrition to our skin too. For this reason, the next few blogs will look at skin health too.

Winki Zinc

I am an outdoorsy person. I love doing outdoor sports and really enjoy mountain biking, kayaking and hiking. Getting some fresh air is good for my mental wellbeing and overall clarity of thinking.

That said, as I live in Sydney, Australia, it's important that I protect my skin from the harmful UV rays. I've already had two precancerous spots removed, so wearing Factor 50 is a non-negotiable.

On one trip to the Blue Mountains, I literally painted myself white with zinc during our 28 km fire trail route in 40+ degree heat.  That wasn't a good look, but I certainly felt sun safe. Resembling Casper wasn't great though.

On a day-to-day basis, I will usually layer my products. I'll wear Bondi Chic multi-defence to protect against environmental pollutants, another lotion that contains Factor 50, and then I add some colour with Winki Zinc peachy stick, which is an all-natural SPF 50 that can be used to add a touch of colour to your face. You can add it to your cheeks for a healthy glow, or, like me, to your whole face.

The stick is convenient, fits nicely in your make-up bag, and smells delicious. Get yours at winkizinc.com.au

Granted, I have just started to use this whey protein, but I already like it. It's like having a milkshake every morning.

I have been drinking whey protein for the last eight years now. As a vegetarian, I knew I needed to get more protein, so having it in shake form was a tasty option. I soon learned that some protein powders have banned and possibly carcinogenic substances in them, so finding a good, clean protein became a mission.

Herein lies Protein 2 U. Their whey protein comprises of all the essential and non-essential amino acids in a lean clean format. Whey protein helps maintain that lean (and ripped) look, fuel our muscles and repair our bodies post-workout, due to the high concentration of leucine. With 25 grams of protein per shake, this is also the perfect snack to curb hunger. Only clean and natural ingredients make it into protein2u's powders, so you can rest assured there are no nasties.

Fleuron

I am a bitter of a sucker for nice smelly cosmetics. If they smell of roses, I'm in. Fleuron are your decadently luxurious skincare range that will keep mum happy on Mother's Day.

Made with rose essential oil, their hand and face cream smell divine. They're also organic, natural, and anti-ageing. I found the creams nourishing and moisturising, hydrating and plumping my skin.

Rose oil also firms, tones, and lifts the skin. It offers many skin miracles, and I have been a big fan of using essential oils as skincare for many years. Rose oil is anti-ageing, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial too.
