The Future's Bright, the Future's Fortis

I'm a modern day woman. So modern, in fact, that I sometimes don't even have time to venture 20 seconds across the road to access the free gym facilities. So when I came across the home version of a PowerPlate, I felt that I'd seen that elusive pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

As an early 30 somethinger, I didn't want my backside to hit my knees any time soon. Or ever, for that matter. I also certainly want to maintain my toned physique for as long as humanly possible. I eat healthily, I like to work out, but I also work darn hard, juggling studies, work and a social life, that means doing the amount of exercise I want is  sometimes a struggle.

And herein lies the Fortis; a vibration plate that allows you to run 10ks without even leaving your home. You simply stand, knees bent, and allow the vibrations to do their work. The Fortis comes with some amazing promises (so long as you don't have Fat Friday Every. Freaking. Day!) including toning, increased metabolism, and weight loss.

When my Fortis arrived, I was so excited to try it, I dived straight in. The only difficulty was the box itself. Built like Fort Knox, it was a workout in itself to open it. When I finally did get in, my bedroom floor resembled that of a polystyrene foam party occupied by several three year olds on a Christmas morning. But, alas, it was worth it.

I dived straight on to try the machine, increasing the speed of vibrations to over level 80. There are 99 speed levels and you can choose whether you walk, jog or run. I decided to run. At level 84. Because I'm a super achiever like that. AND...I want my results quickly.

My legs paid for it. Red, itchy, achy, I knew that the machine was delivering what it promises. And, it's as simple as standing for ten minutes a day. I use the Fortis with other exercises such as weight training and squats. I'll also keep running and rowing, but it's convenient, and in times when it's a struggle to do anything else, I know that I can rely on the Fortis to see me through.
